KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND SECURITY
- GIVING YOU THE ADVANTAGE
The Art and Culture Professionals' Trade Union (TAKU) supervises the interests of those employed in the fields of art and culture. Our members include, among others, cultural producers, municipal and state cultural and arts administration personnel, directors of cultural offices and centres, event directors, project experts, personnel involved in voluntary cultural activities. We also have private artists and self-employed professionals as members.
Students may join TAKU during their studies. The feeling of solidarity among this varied but highly competent group is a very important aspect of union membership.
As a member of TAKU, you are protected in case of unemployment or lay-offs, you receive information and guidance in employment related issues, you have the opportunity to apply for grants and you have a say in the future of the field.
TAKU's special tasks include getting involved and having a say in cultural and educational policies. The union takes a stand on, among other issues, matters related to cultural administration and funding, and education in the fields of culture and art. Structural changes in the field and the change from traditional working life to temporary work situations, freelancer positions and entrepreneur work are central focuses for the union's supervision of interests.
Each member of TAKU has a say.
The highest decision-making authority in TAKU is the annual statutory meeting. At this meeting, the membership body elects eight individual members to serve a two-year term on the Board. A new Chairman of the Board is elected annually.
Participation in the meetings is one key way to influence the activities of the union.
